Learning the Piano

The Piano has always seemed so appealing to me and a couple days ago I decided to start learning how to play it.

Its embarrassing but I started on my 2 year old's little pink toy keyboard..LOL!

I learned the notes and such for a few songs and started practicing.

Well Yesterday I pulled my wife's giant keyboard out and bought a new adapter for it. Its been two days but I have started to learn how to read the music, I can play with two hands and have learned a few songs. they go slow in some parts but I am just proud at the fact that I can sit down and make music come out of it and not just the sound of a cat walking across it...lol.

I have actually started out with Christmas songs because they are very simple to learn and play.

I can play
Jingle Bells
Silent Night
Up on the housetop

I started O come all Ye faithful and I'm slowly getting it. I think I may start getting some lessons in the future if it sticks!

now that´s slammin....being able to make music is a great....and You seem to be gifted as well.....I learned playing the keyboard as a child...but my father forced me to play it...so I lost interest very quick....and never really improved...even tho the talent was there.

Now I am planning to get a guitar and learn how to play it....I have one already....but it´s too big for me....

Good for you. Stick with it. I wish I would have when I was taking lessons growing up but I had a very elderly teacher and it became so boring because all she wanted me to learn was scales.
My mother played the piano by ear, she could not read a note of music but she sure could make that piano sing. I guess that's where I got the desire to learn. I still wish I would have stuck with it.

Enjoy!

I am a pianist, flutist, and singer.
I've taken lesson since I was about 8 or 9 years old.
I've played all over the world. But, there will also be people able to play better than me for the rest of my life.
You get to the place where you enjoy yourself. That's the main thing!
You don't have to play like Dino to make yourself and others happy!!
I want to encourage you to stick with it. Music is just plain, ol' FUN!!!

Learning to play the piano is a wonderful thing. My daughter last year attended an after school care program for parents who work. They have all sorts of activities there including music. Anyhow the lady who teaches music told me I should really consider getting d/d into lessons. I told her I thought she was good at playing the keyboard, singing and the ukulele but then again she's my child and is perfect in my eyes. So needless to say I took her advice and got d/d into lessons here. She has been doing this for 2 weeks now and absolutely loves it. I am also learning a thing or two myself.

I've always wanted to learn to play piano... and violin and harmonica for some reason. I did pretty well with both alto and tenor saxophone, but I decided to take a break from it many years ago and my interest quickly faded. Since then, my fingers have been rendered nearly useless for the dexterity and articulation that is required for it, but I still pick it up every once in a blue moon.

Anyway, good luck with it. It's a wonderful thing to know.

Good luck with learning the piano It's a lot of fun and I think it's worth the time learning an instrument. All my kids are musical. My son has been playing the sax for 3 years and my other son and daughter sing. I used to play piano and the violin, I loved it.
