A Christmas Story Question

Hi all,

I hope someone can help me with this. I'm trying to compile a soundtrack of A Christmas Story and I'm well underway, but I've stumbled onto a tune I can't figure out.

I'm not sure if I should have posted this in the movie thread, but since it's really about music, but not really Christmas music in this scenario, ...well you'll get the idea.

It's the scene when Ralphie's Mom is dressing Randy for school. There is a song playing on the radio. I have no idea what it is. Here are some lyrics that are audible:

I know that its true ... I'm really making love to you
I can't believe that you are in my arms
I'm afraid I'll wake up ... and find (inaudible)
Pinch me, so that I ... I'm not dreaming

Does anyone have any idea what song this might be. It sounds like the orchestra might be Sammy Kaye since other Kaye songs are used in the film.

Any help would be GREATLY APPRECIATED!

I tried to do a google by putting in a few of the lines ,but didn't come up with anything.

Maybe you could watch the end of the credit's carefully and that might help.

Know what? My dad might know.
Let me email the lyrics to him and see if he knows it.
I'll let you know...

Without access to the movie, I hazard a guess here:

"I Guess I'll Have To Dream The Rest" I'm pretty sure it's Sammy Kaye & His Orchestra in the movie although several others recorded the tune including The Glenn Miller Orchestra and Frank Sinatra.

I did find a link to the same question, but not much additional information. A closer look at the credits yielded no further clues, I guess...

No, it's not I Guess I'll Have to Dream the Dest. That plays earlier in the movie and does not contain the lyrics mentioned above.

The song in question is also sung by a woman.

Well, it was worth a shot from a feeble memory. Maybe DVDGuy will be along soon and can id the tune.

AH HA !!!!!!!!! I found the site!!!!! It's called "Lets Sing It"

http://www.letssingit.com/

Look at the top of the page and you will see where it says "SEARCH" .Pull down the menu to where it says "LYRICS" and then type in what lyric's you know and see what comes up. Just do a line at a time though.

Hope this helps!
