Sports You do or used to do

I am a total sports nut....especially Track and Field (Athletics), Basketball (Lakers 4 Life) and Soccer (FC Bayern Mnchen)....I love watching sports...and more importantly...I love doing sports....always have...

So what in type of sports have You done in Your youth...or are You still participating in sports?

I used to play field hockey in 89 when I was 8 until 1997 and came back for a year in 2007....I seemed to be quite talented in every sport I tried....even in Tennis...I started that in 98 and played till I got pregnant in 2005....I was very lazy practising...but won...even tho I must have had the most terrible technique ever....I just ran down everyone...and was very good on the net....I taught myself playing basketball when I saw the US DreamTeam in the Barcelona Olympics in 1992...started playing in 2000 but had a torn ligament and lost touch with the team after it.....

I would love to take up sports again...but right now its a financial thing...the sports clubs cost money...and I dont have so much....

Anyway....besides Rodmonster...who is a football nut as I understand....I dont know about anybodys athletic history....I would love to hear from You guys...also Rodmonster...I just know You play and coach it..but since when do You play...what type of level and on...

very curious about the athletic accomplishments....

One crazy thing I once did was in the first year of playing hockey....the field was withing a track...like many soccer fields are in europe as well.....a 18 year old boy said he was gonna run a few laps....I...at 8 years said....aight...I ma join Ya!.....I did...big time....we ran lap by lap...I ran the speed of the 18-year-old....I ran until my grandpops dragged me off the track......after 20laps!!!!!

I never managed to run 20laps ever again in my life...hahaha

I'm a massive football ("soccer") fan. I support a very small English team, but I also like baseball and the NFL.

A Bayern Munchen fan, eh? The closest link I have to German football is through Hertha Berlin - they're playing St Pats Athletic (of Ireland, my home) in the UEFA Cup soon enough!

I played hockey and football at school...

I never play any sports. I can't stand baseball (goes back to growing up, my brother played baseball and watched it and listened to it on the radio). Not a fan of football either. I get upset about how sports becomes nasty and some men act worse than 2 year olds and have fits and etc.

But I did have a horse and enjoyed riding my horse also showed him a few times and won some ribbons, took 1st and 3rd, does that count? Of course had to give that up once I started having children.

In school, I played basketball and baseball until my knee wouldn't let me any more. I wanted to play football (american), but due to said knee, no way.

Played softball in the Military.

One sport I wish was bigger when I was young was football (soccer). I may have not been able to play, but would have gave it a shot. It has really grown on me and I really enjoy watching it, second only to college football (american football).

Big Gunner fan!

I love sports as well. I played basketball, football (American), track and field and baseball through out high and some of them through college. I was also was very good at sports naturally.

Now I just love watching sports. I am a big 49er fan, I have been a laker fan for over 25 years. My baseball team is the SF Giants.

Due to an knee injury I no longer play at all.

Yep, bad mistake leaving the Gunners, he had it all there...

I think the true essense of soccer is lost in translation, trans-Atlantic. The soul is left out, the core. The tradition and the history that Americans associate with baseball, for example, are missing in the States' soccer world. I'm generalising, but I think that is why soccer will never truly be embraced in the US like baseball, or American football

... Have a look at this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7vzqGB4WLkY ... it should explain what I mean.

I grew up riding horses but quit when I was 19 due to moving to the US. Had to sell my horse as there was no-one else to ride it. Never really got back into it.

Now I do yoga almost every day and I ride my bike a lot and I walk.

No team sports for me.
