I work in a small office of only 3. I have 1 person above me with sinority and she normally gets the good days off. My boss is pretty good for the most part though. We do come in on Christmas Eve but just to have a little party and exchange gifts. We leave by noon.. and this year we will have off the day after Christmas too since its a Friday. I would like to have off longer but there isnt much I can do about it! My Hubby's boss usually gives him 3 or 4 days off around the holidays!

I work in the office of a small machine shop & we are closed Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Years Eve & New Years Day...but if business is slow (which it normally is b/c most of our customers close beteween the holidays) we will close too! The years we do stay open, I usually get to leave early every day. This year business is so slow, it doesn't look like being closed between the holidays is going to be a problem. I don't like it that we are so slow, but I would love to be off during the holidays.

I always take off during Christmas. This year we are off on Christmas eve and Christmas Day and they are forcing everyone to use a PTO (vacation) day on the 26th. I will be off from the Friday before Christmas until the Monday after New Year's. I can't wait!

Definitely! I am self-employed so I just don't schedule any projects December 23rd-January 2nd and my husband always takes 1-2 weeks off around that time.

PTO time... LOL!
That brings back memories from when I used to work on an inpatient psychiatric ward and we'd earn 8 hours of PTO time every pay period. Since I was direct care staff, I'd have to find my own coverage for Christmas... lucky for me one of my coworkers wanted to work Christmas and in return I would work during the Chanukah days she wanted to take off.

I work in a church so time off during Christmas is almost impossible...it's one of our busiest seasons. However, this year I am going to ask for the Friday after Christmas off. Hopefully the pastor will go for it.

unfortunately I don't/can't take any time off around Christmas. I do try to get out early on Christmas eve if possible. Since I switched jobs I just don't have the vacation time!
