Washington DC is in between Maryland, Virginia and Pennsylvania but it is not in a state. I live in Maryland and my city is about 40 minutes away from Washington DC. Maryland and DC are on the East Coast, New York is a little north of Maryland. Im about 3 1/2 hours away from New York City. It gets cold here in Maryland and snows during the winter but its much colder and lots more snow north of Maryland ( New York, Massachusetts (Boston), Maine, Rhode Island etc.. hope this helps

it sleets
it's icy

the summers are short

chicago is in the "heart" of the us, in the middle of the continental/lower 48. it is a big city (3rd largest in the country) bordered by one of the great lakes to the east. chicago is in the running to host the 2016 olympics and is the home of us presidential candidate barack obama. chicago is located in the state of illinois.

the other non-continental states are alaska and hawai'i. hawai'i is a group of islands (7 major ones) in the pacific, about 4000 miles west of california. it is a 9ish hour flight from chicago to honolulu, hawai'i (non stop). alaska is huge - the biggest state. it borders the west side of canada and is separated from northern russia by a sea.

i would like to move to honolulu, my second favorite city in the world. hawai'i is my favorite US state.

I can attest to that from being there myself in 99....and reports from my relatives....I bought a postcard over there....it was parted in four parts....

itīs showed four times the same picture...with the writing "Seattle in Spring" next pic "Seattle in Summer" next pic "Seattle in Fall" next pic "Seattle in Winter"....

now what I still donīt get.....what state is Washington D.C. in? I know about Washington the State and Washington the city having nothing to do with each other....as I am pretty much set on the States...and even on some laws of the States...but which State does D.C. belong to.

DC stands for District of Colombia. Washington (the city) is the capital of the US. The city merged with the District some very long time ago and is now known as Washington DC. There are no other cities in this district and it doesn't belong to a state as far as I know

And California is the sunshine state (hot year round down south) though the northern part gets cold in winter (San Francisco area). Not snowy cold though.
