"It's only August, yet many of our area's biggest retailers are breaking out the ornaments, inflatable Santas and snow globes, tinsel, lights, and artificial Christmas trees." I don't know about the rest of you but this makes me a very happy person. "But some area retailers are skipping fall and moving straight into winter, hoping you're ready for some holiday cheer," I think they get the Christmas stuff out so early is because it last longer than the other holidays. Think about this the holiday season is comprised of Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year. Thanksgiving is the one day celebration, you may spend a day or two preping but thats it. New Years is just that you get together around 7PM and hang out till 12AM. I'll throw in halloween for good measure. Yes, there are some people who have decorations up all month but the only thing at halloween is that night. When it comes to Christmas you decorate more than any other holiday, you take the kids to go see Santa, you go drive around the neighborhoods looking @ lights, spend time with family. Most of us open presents more than one time. Because of all the Merry things that happen during the season it only makes since to start early even though we are more than a 100days out. "On a day like today when it's quite warm outside, it makes tolerating that summer weather more bearable," said Deanna Dennis, a Garden Ridge shopper. "It's nice to look at Christmas decorations (that) get you in the mood for Christmas spirit while keeping you cool." I totally agree, this makes getting through the rest of the summer easier. I'll close for now but lets look at our countdowns right quick. There are 91 Days/ 12 Hrs till BLACK FRIDAY. There are only 122 days/ 12 Hrs till CHRISTMAS DAY!!!!!!!!!!!!

This putting stuff out so far before the holidays (Christmas, Easter, Valentine's Day, etc.) really bugs me. It also bugs me that in August I can't find a pair of shorts to buy at Walmart.

When I shop at Wal-Mart they card me when I try to buy shorts. Apparently I'm still too young.

You know I though of something as I turned my computer on. Some of our merry family are saying they don't like Christmas creep. I will say this they could have come up with a better name for it. How can we say we don't like seeing stuff yet when we are the very people who are chatting about now, and in June and July, it just dose not make since. And for those of us who go to Sunday Night Chat and talk about Christmas weve gone more over the edge.

It's not that I don't like seeing the Christmas stuff. I do. (Considering that me and the hubby go garage saling for the stuff all summer) It's that I don't like the greediness of the retailers who push any holiday earlier and earlier. I feel the same way about trying to find a pair of shorts in July and August only to find the Fall fashions are the only clothes available.

Maybe the retailers go ahead and put the stuff out because nuts like me are prying open the boxes as they come off the trailers to get first dibs on the good stuff.
