A Christmas Story Marathon

So how many of you partake in the tradition of watching A Christmas Story nine million times on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day?

In my family we usually watch the first airing of it on Christmas Eve and then we'll switch to something else for a little while (or put on a DVD) and eventually we'll wind up back at A Christmas Story which then stays on for the rest of the night. I can't explain it, but there is no better feeling than being half awake while pigging out on Christmas cookies (or whatever else was made that day) and watching A Christmas Story at 3am on Christmas Eve night.

For the most part we don't usually watch on Christmas day.

We do!! We usually have it on in the background at my IL's on Christmas Eve and then we'll turn it on Christmas Day as background noise as well. Everyone in our family just loves Ralphie!!

I turn it on at the first showing, set the Tivo to record it and then leave it on. If by chance my Tivo needs to record something else and it switches channels I set the Tivo to record again so that it will go back to the TBS channel that the movie is playing on. Then I go to my mom's on Christmas Eve and it's on in the background there and I sleep with the tv on all night with it on. Then it's on all day on Christmas and I always watch the last showing of it and cry because Christmas is over!

It's on for the full marathon here. The little ones love watching it! Usually on CD it's just background noise until dinner and opening of presents is done. Then everyone either sits and talks while watching it, or go into the other room to watch "man tv".

We watch most of the marathon, but we also have to watch "It's A Wonderful Life" on Christmas Eve. Christmas day is all Christmas shows, with a lot of the Christmas Story marathon. My hubby likes Christmas Story the best of all.
