My mother hails from the south pole of Venus and met my father (from Mars) at an intergalatic toilet brush symposium in the great red spot on Jupiter.

Yeah, my poor attempt at humor... (Men are from Mars, Women from Venus, get it... )

German (paternal grandfather), English (maternal grandfather), Irish (maternal grandmother), Cherokee (paternal grandmother).....quite a mix, eh...

My maternal great grandfather was Chinese and my maternal great grandmother was part German and black, they had my grandmother, who married an African American man. My paternal great grandparents were of African and Scottish descent. They had my grandfather, and he married my grandmother, who was of African American descent. We also found that my fathers side of the family also has Blackfoot Native American ties and more European ties that are German and Dutch (slave owners/traders). My dad and I went to the national archives and did research on our family records that dated back to slavery. Very very fascinating.

So just in case you lost count, I'm part:
Chinese
German
African
Native American
Dutch
Scottish

I am pretty much the embodiment of America! A great big ole melting pot!

I am AMERICAN

Yes i said it and am proud of it.
Not sure why people HAVE to have other names in front of that precious one.... totally confuses me - you either are one or you are not....very simple....... I never hear other nations adding extra nations to thiers.... And they are PROUD of thiers.... AND should be!

Now that i have stood on my little soap box...
=)

My ancestors were Irish, Italian, and Cherokee..... and they made me what i am today - An American.

Like many have stated, I'm a mutt as well. I know there is Irish from my dad's paternal side and my paternal grandmother's grandfather (or great-grandfather--can't remember exactly) was full Cherokee Indian. On my mom's side there is Irish or Scottish due to surnames and the abundance of red hair--lol!

My maiden name is Stockard and I spoke with a man once who had done the full Stockard geneaology and he said that all the Stockards in the U.S. were descended from one Stockard who came over from Europe in the 1700s. On a side note, actress Stockard Channing's real name is Susan Antonia Williams Stockard. She is related to us!
