One year I forgot to add sugar to my pumpkin pies... thank Goodness I had also made a couple apple pies too so not all was lost.

Everyyear I always misplace a gift - still looking for the christmas bracelet we bought for our daughter last year! LOL!

star that would be the year

We lived in Prince George BC, my ex's family lived in Smithers BC (about 4 hours north west of PG) Anyway, we went to visit them the weekend before Christmas for a few days. Suddenly in front of everyone he announces we should stay and spend Christmas day with his family. What could I say in front of everyone. Once in the car however I wanted to know if he had lost his mind! All our gifts for the kids were back home, our own dinner ready to go. Guests waiting to join us. There was no way we could stay in Smithers. Well, to make a long story short, we stayed, I spent a couple of hours on the phone setting things right, a few more hours trying to explain to the kids why their cousins were getting so many gifts and them only one or two. I cried and had a miserable time, even though I smiled for everyone else.

This might be a familiar story for christmas.comer's... One Christmas, my boyfriend and I went out to buy a tree from the farm. I take my tree decorating very seriously, so the picking out of the *perfect* tree, chopping it down, and bringing it home was quite time consuming. We set up the tree in the stand and I spent the next couple of hours meticulously hanging hundreds of lights. I am nearly done when he decides that the tree needs a trim. He gets out some scissors and next thing I know, poof my lights are out. He "trimmed" the light string. I just stared at him with my mouth open. He looked at me and said "Don't say one word, I will fix this." He did fix it, lucky for him. We are friends now and still laugh about it to this day.

Well several years ago we purchased a live tree, like we do every year. This one particular year though apparently an animal of some sort had built there home inside of it. There was a not so good smell coming from the tree and it appeared to be dying! We had to take it back! We didn't even notice the smell of it until a day or 2 later and by that time the tree had already been decorated...so we had to take everything down!

Also one year my SIL made a cheesecake and while she was bringing it to the front door it slipped out of her hand right onto the walkway!!

That would probably be when the Christmas tree fell down on top of Bruce, then aged about 3!!!

It was a 6ft artificial one which I'd taken from home with me when I got married. That meant it was approx. 20 years old at least. The base feet had cracked but my ex had "sorted" it. Obviously not well enough because Bruce was playing just in front of it when all of a sudden....TIMBER!!!!!! He was fine, I hasten to add but I really wish I'd got a picture of him covered in fairy lights and tinsel. I could ask but don't think I'll get the same effect with him 17 now!!!

Worst christmas for me was when my grandfather started developing alzheimers rapidly... and as we sat down to eat christmas lunch he yelled at his sister and told her to "stop eating you big fat pig". She was a very big lady due to health problems. It was sad because he was so kind and loved his sister. Its something he would never say if he was well. Now when we try to remember the time he first got sick we pin-point that christmas.

On Christmas Eve when I was 16 --mom looked out the window and there were flames on the car winshield--we ran out on the porch and the whole chimney was onfire!

Dad just opened up the stove and did a couple other things and it went down so we didn't have to invite the fire dept.

Santa used the door this year!
