people are slow in decorating

I know its only the 2nd December today, but usually around this time in my area a lot of people would normally put up the decos and lights by now. It seems to be getting later and later every year or is it just me?

I don't know. People who are not on this board do take a little longer to realize that The Season Is Here!!!

I have seen about 4 house's around here decorated .

Maybe people are disheartened and not really feeling Christmasy due to the poor economy .

I think people like to celebrate Christmas....but don´t want to pay such huge electricity bills......There are less lights in flats and houses than the years before...but I think they will just put them up within this week to save up a little bit.....other stuff like windowpictures and all that are in the windows, people are buying trees and the shops are stuffed with customes buying foods and presents....I just think people try to save up at least a little like that

I've noticed that too Kelly Ann! Normally where I live, I am usually one of the last to get my decs up (and they normally go up 1st dec lol). But this year, loads still have not decorated yet

I've actually noticed the opposite in my area, I saw trees and lights up sooner than I remember in years past. I'd rush home and tell my husband I wasn't the only Christmas addict around, other's were beating me in getting their decorations up.

There are many who are very traditional and they only decorate when it was the custom in their homes as children. I know some people that still wait for Christmas Eve to put up the tree after the kids have gone to bed, that was a custom so when the kids got up Christmas morning they had a bigger surprise.

To me that was a lot of work for the parents back then. yikes!

I actually am giving serious consideration to not putting a ton of lights on the outside of the house to try to save on energy costs over the next month.

But I probably will go ahead and put them up. It's only one month if I put them up now, ya know?

Its mostly due to electricity i believe. I put them out cause really its a month, its probably a 20-25 dollar difference for all the lights.

I've noticed some of my neighbors who usually have their outside lights up, haven't done it yet. I'm not one to talk though, because my husband hasen't gotten around to decorating outside either. At least the inside is decorated!
