Rudolph and The Island Of Misfit Toys ?

Did anyone else watch Rudolph and The Island Of Misfit Toys last night? We were flipping through channel's trying to find something to watch and I noticed that this show was on ,but it was WEIRD ! It was like they were alien's, robot's or something . Hermie was wearing a tooth outfit. I've never seen it before and didn't even watch it all last night.

I watched it last year... and I HATED it... everything that made the original Rudolph great was somehow sadly missing here...

First, the actual "plot" of the show was lifted wholesale from Toy Story 2... disgruntled toys cast aside when their owners grow up...

Plus, sometimes the stop motion "animagic" in the older shows could be clunky... but it has a certain undeniable charm that holds up even today... this show seems like the animators were REALLY in love with the newer CGI technology and tried to cram every computer trick in their arsenal into the program... just because you CAN do something doesn't mean you SHOULD...

Lastly... I absolutely LOATHED the Hippo character..! What do hippos have to do with the North Pole, anyway..? Yeh, I understand that they wanted another jungle animal to reflect King Moonracer... but he was a total FANTASY character... a (really cool looking) winged lion... a hippo with butterfly wings just didn't cut it for me...

I suppose the kids will like it, though...

Just wait till I get a deal to make a Christmas Eve special..!

I've always avoided this one like the plague. Very poor production.

That's a great song! One of the local radio channels said that it was originally done as a fundraiser for a zoo so they could get a hippo. Do you know if that is true?
