I'm sorry to say I just don't have the time to stay tonight...and that I won't be around much for the next few weeks.
Tonight I head once again for Denver. I have a new shop there we're opening in a few weeks and after having hired a whole new crew I get to train them over the next couple of days. I won't be home until Wednesday.
I'll be here for just a few days and then Sandy and I head out on our 2nd cruise of this year next Sunday. We get home around the 13th and then I head right back to Denver for the grand opening for a few days.
Please don't get the wrong impression of us, because not only are we not really the vacationing type we're REALLY not the cruising type. Last year I won a sales contest at work and we won a cruise as a result. It was a real shocker because I have a territory that is the most spread out in the company and it has never produced like the big boys in California before.
Well, we went on the cruise in April and it was great, even if it was Mexico. To get 10 days alone with my wife was a real treat. In our entire married life we have never had that kind of time alone together so it was special in many ways.
Well, we won the 2nd contest they had last year, surprising everyone even more. I didn't want to go to Mexico again, especially in the same year so when I asked what other arrangements could be made they had me contact the cruise line directly. They told me I could go to the Carribean, and that's the good news. But the bad news was that I had to use it before December 31st. So we're off next Sunday. If any are so inclined, I keep a journal for the kids on my personal website
of our travels and it proved a lot of fun and a very practical way of keeping in contact with them last time. It also now serves as a cherished storage of those memories and we'll being doing it again as a result. I will be online everyday of the cruise to post to the blog and you can bet I'll check in here to at least see what fires are burning. But, at .35 cents a minute with shipboard Internet you can bet I won't be spending much time here as I would like.
The only worse time for me to take a trip like this is in December. Not only is my real job absolutely impossible to be away from right now this is my key season for prep for the upcoming holiday months here. And this year we have a very full agenda with the sites and features we're pursuing. I'm pleased and excited for all the early season activity here and have really been enjoying it. I just hope you all keep it rolling.
It is also the time of year when things start to pick up traffic-wise. Being a seasonal site traffic has doubled already in August from what it was in July. It will continue to do that all the way through December. That doesn't necessarily mean these forums will be busier at the same rate but it does mean a lot more folks signing up and even a few troublemakers will pop up in our midst. I appreciate all of those who have volunteered to help keep things in order, especially in my absence.
We have right now about 5000 unique visitors per day to My Merry Christmas. Most of those never make it to the forums. But when you do the math and figure we're doubling in traffic each month we have a tremendous potential for lots of new members here. Nothing will make these forums grow more than your continued enthusiasm for the season and the warm welcoming spirit you provide. THANK YOU so much for that.
Happy trails and Merry Christmas,
