A Small Town Christmas Parade.....

Ever wonder what a small town Christmas parade looked like? I didn't think so.

If you have, now here's your chance to see it (in all of its glory).

First off, we were at Panama City Beach today and they had a very nice parade of boats, in the marina, and then a great parade at Pier Park. Of course, I forgot my camera. What else is new. (We also saw Four Christmases at the theater).

However, we did make it back to my small hometown of 2700 people to see the biggest little Christmas parade. That's right, it lasted a whopping eight minutes.

Now here's your chance to see it. I was kind enough to edit the two minute gap between the fire engines and the floats.

Also, if you are wondering about the sirens, that is a Bonifay thing and always has been. We have a rather large rodeo in October and the parades are, quite honestly, spectacular. (The rodeo is a big deal around here.) The local firefighters and police always lead off those parades with sirens a blazing. So that explains the carryover to the Christmas parade. And the fact, that without them, the parade would last 3 minutes. lol

(When the sirens end, Andy Williams takes over, mercifully. Also, the video is always darker on You Tube for some reason, sorry about that.)

Anyways, it has been a great Christmassy day!!!!

Sorry to be long-winded, here's the video....hope you enjoy!

I'm surprised that my husband didn't come running down the stairs when I was watching this with all of those sirens! He loves to see and hear that kind of stuff. I've always been a part of a small town and usually our hometown fire dept. Ends the parade. It's mixed with other fire companies here and there as well as with other things like dance companies or bands. But, there is always a huge string of fire trucks with their sirens blaring and horns blowing. It's fun when you're in the truck making the noise but, if you're on the outside listening it can be kinda loud! haha!!! I wish I would have gone to our parade this year but, they always have it on a Thurs. night and I have to work. Maybe next year! Thanks for sharing, it was fun to watch.

That is weird. Usually we had sirens at the beginning AND just in front of the Santa Clause float!! So you guys only have the one at the beginning, huh? Tehe!

About that cross wrapped in a string of lights… Maybe a nativity scene would have been more appropriate for Christmas?

Anyway, thanks for posting this. It's nice to see that a small town still puts out a big effort for its Christmas parade.
