Well, Holiday, its not silly to worry about things that hurt us. And - it hurts us when Christmas ends. So - lets come here and talk and talk and talk about Christmas as much as we like.

On our sister board, MagicalHolidayHome, somebody wrote that they like to go shopping on December 26th because then they don't get sad about the 25th being over. I went to a friends' house a week or two after Christmas, and as a surprise - they had a traditional Christmas dinner. They had been away at relatives house on Christmas, so they didn't have leftovers at their house. That extra, surprise Christmas dinner - when I thought that Christmas was over for the year, was great!

Maybe people will share lots of little tricks for keeping the happiness going!

that´s an argument from a lot of Christmas haters....but the important thing is not to celebrate his exact birthday...but the joy and salvation his birth brought to the world.......

anyway...Your family realy feels different about Christmas....Glad You love it and are here

santahat

When I was younger I felt it was strange for me to love Christmas as much as I do, almost to a point I didn't understand it. I had always wanted a Santa hat, which I didn't get my first one until I was 18 my Christmas cd collection is now over 50, so i have learned to channel my love of Christmas in the way I decorate
our house. I am lucky to have a wife that loves the season as much as I do, but there is only so much she can handle after New Year's passes, while I can handle the music and the lights all year. We had friends come over for a small New Year's Eve party in 08 and they kept making comments like so Mr. Christmas why do you do this... Very tongue and cheek. Come to find out for Christmas 09 they did some of my ideas for decorating in their house this past year. Last week I was talking to a woman at work and I was telling her how I was having a hard time with like the perfect storm of emotions had left me exhausted and semi-depressed and one of the reasons I listed was I hate when the Christmas season is over, because I am a big Christmas nut. I stated it was a little easier this year because I had found this site and read what other people like myself do after the season to keep the spirit going on.
She said she had never heard of a site like this one and never heard of a guy being so much into Christmas. So sometimes I do feel alone but my family is what really matters and we are all big Christmas nuts, and we already talk about Christmas '10

HI Carol.

You are definitely NOT ALONE. I feel EXACTLY the same as you. Everyone around me acts like I am some sort of freak because I get so depressed when it is over and because when it is here I am so into it. I guess, like my one of my favorite sayings, that those of us who LOVE Christmas can know that ..........."Christmas Day will ALWAYS be, just as long as we have WE..." From the original How The Grinch Stole Christmas.

We have We Carol. Dont let anyone bring you down !!

My 4-year-old daughter loves Christmas all year round, so I'm not alone. However, we live with the Grinch, so we try to celebrate when he's not around!

My husband and I love Christmas, my kids do too..but not as much as us. As far as it goes for the rest of my family their not to nuts about it. Seems to me that most people associate it with so much of a burden they dread when the season arrives.

I see this was posted in December and somehow missed it!

I have felt very alone in the way I feel but it never took away my happiness and love for Christmas. Everyone in my family respect my love for Christmas and do join in the festivities but they do not feel "Christmas" the way I do.

It is very obvious that my husband, Snow-in-Texas shares my passion for Christmas with me. He takes a week long vacation in December every year just so we can go all out for Christmas. Before I met him, I was on my own! Lol.

This post could not be more timely as I was thinking the same thing this morning. I live alone so it's not an issue at all at home. But when someone comes into my office and I'm streaming Christmas music they look at me like I have 3 heads. Oh well lol

Yeah, it was posted in December of 2008, but the sentiment still works for me. My family enjoys Christmas time, but I can identify with wishing Nancy wanted to walk through the malls just to see the decorations. Or drive a couple hours to see the Trans Siberian Orchestra, or refuse to go out to eat because Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer is coming on TV in 15 minutes!
