Pictures of my kitchen

My kitchen needs a few "pick me ups". This little house was built back in the 40s/50s. It's a precious, sweet, charming, little house. I love it. But the kitchen needs a few touches.

I have a precious friend who lives in TN and she is going to be making me a treasure. A beautiful, yellow gingham tablecloth!!

Someone else has already mentioned sunflowers. Terrific idea!!!

I want to add a few touches without "overdoing" it. Know what I mean? Sometimes "less is more". I will post a few pics of my kitchen.

My main problem area is over my kitchen sink. There is no window. Just a plain wall. What should I put there? What would YOU put there???

I also do not have window over my sink. I used some tiles that my kids painted some abstract fruit on as the center of a whole tile display. It's nothing fancy but I like the whole art feel of it.

Also, maybe a shadowbox? You could put a scene inside of it that is something that you like to look at...kind of like window?

How about painting the cabinet doors a different color then the cabinet frames. Our kitchen is a bit older too, we painted the walls and the cabinets frames white and painted the cabinets doors a golden beige color and replaced the handles. It made a big difference and next to no money.

If I didn't have a window over my sink I would go to AllPosters and buy a nice poster with an outdoor scene, then I would put up a pretty kitchen curtain (just as if it was a real window) and then I would put a wooden shelf under the window and place a pretty plant or vine on it. This may sound silly, but that is what I would do!!

LOL - NO, it's not for sale!!

I could get several posters...and change out the posters with the seasons!

A friend of mine's husband built her a beautiful wooden dishrack to hang over the sink. It's beautiful.

Now I'm seriously thinking about getting curtains that will match my new tablecloth and hang them there like there is a window there....

star put up a mirror

you can make faces at yourself and no one can sneak up on you!
But if you don't like that, I love the idea of curtains and a poster. At second hand stores you could buy an old wooden window frame to really give it a nice look.
