getting nervous

I have only 7 weeks to go for my baby and am getting nervous about being at home on my own during the day. Yesterday I thought I was going into labour and it frightened the hell out of me. I want to ask the women here, what's the best thing to do when it happens as I was induced the first time and I have no idea whats it like to go into labour naturally.

Hey there..
Question. Do you have a birth plan?
Do you have somebody lined up to care for your other child while you're going to the hospital?
Once you were induced last time, how long was it until the baby was actually born?
When you go into labor - most likely you will have plenty of time to take care of a few things. I really feel that everything will be alright!
But I also understand being nervous and all. Hang in there!!!!
Just think ... before long..you'll be holding that precious baby in your arms and everything will have been just fine!!!

Thanks! My midwife and I will make a birth plan next monday!! More than likely my mother will have my daughter. When I was induced with her I was in pain for almost 18 hrs. But I've heard the 2nd one can come a lot quicker. I think I was actually in labour about 7 hrs with my first but obviously being induced the pain starts a lot earlier.

Its basically the same.. you feel pain, it doesnt ease up... almost like your gonna start your period at first. Im usually in denial thinking "this isnt it" but then I get to the point where the pain is too much for me.
Your contractions dont have to be steady either... I went into labor with my second and they werent steady so I didnt think it was real labor. Boy was I ever wrong. So I labored for 50 hours!
Good luck You will know when its time... congrats again

i'm half dreading labour and half over the moon about it.

i guess you just need to get organised kel, make sure you have a plan (who'll take paige, who will accompany you to the hospital etc..) once that's in place you should feel a little more relaxed. i'm sure you'll know when you it's time and i'll have my fingers crossed that it all goes quickly and smoothly.

i don't know how it is in wales, but around my neck of the woods the hospital always try to send you home when you go in and you aren't dialated enough (even though you are in labour) don't let them send you home!!!!! stay in the hospital cafe if you have to, tell them you aint going anywhere. (my 2 friends were sent home and ended up giving birth in the house, so i for one will refuse to leave the hospital when i'm in labour, even if i have 20 hours to go before pushing!)

Best thing to do is relax!
It usually starts off slow and irregular (but some jump right in and have reg contractions right away, something I have no experience with)
Have a nice warm shower or a soak in the tub.
Go for a walk (after you get dressed, you don't want to get a chill or scare the neighbours!)
And remember...when it gets hard, get drugs!

Honestly, it's different for everyone so what happens for one might be the complete opposite for another. Increasing pain is pretty much a given for everyone. You might be one of the lucky ones and it'll be like shelling peas - on the other hand........well, we won't go there!!!!!!!

Keep on the lookout for your waters breaking too - that's a good indication that something's afoot!!!

My first one was induced too but my second was not. I labored longer with my second then with my first.

You will do fine. Relax and try not to get so nervous. It will all work out!

it sounds silly but when i had my daughter all i had was gas and air..(and that was during labour not when I was induced at first).has anyone used the tens machines because apart from not knowing what drugs to ask for , do you think it would be a better alternative to use a TENS machine? (I cant even remember being asked to have anything apart from a paracetamol.....I was so unprepared the first time and I didnrt have a birth plan. I saw about 15 different midwives during my whole pregnancy. Now I've had the same one throughout this time. I will be making a birth plan on monday and will ask about pain relief. Im not very good with hospitals and stuff like that so I do shy away from stuff like this.
