what makes you feel christmassey?

Hi everyone

I'm a newbie here and just love christmas and was wondering what makes you all feel christmassey? Is it seeing the christmas lights in town, wrapping up your gifts, a certain tradition each year, playing christmas carols that does it?... Share what gets you in the christmas spirit!

For me it's walking down Oxford St (London) after work, listening to carols on my mp3 player and looking at all the deerations, lights and the hurried shoppers whizzing by.. x

The Macy's Day Parade is a big kick-off for me. When I watch the parade and finally see the Rockettes and Santa...I feel Christmasy. Also, the first time I spot a Christmas display in the stores or malls, I feel the need to decorate!

For me it's the cumulative effect of everything: the shows on TV, the lights, the tree in my house, the shopping for family's gifts. But one prerequisite that I haven't had in about 14 years is colder weather. I know alot of you who have always lived where it's cold may not appreciate it, but try having Christmas in Arizona when it's in the 70's. Arizonans actually wear jackets when it's 70 out, and look at me like I'm crazy when I say I wish it was colder. They say, "The 115 degree summers are worth enduring, for the 70 degree winters." I disagree. Oct, Nov, and Dec aren't the same to me when it's still warm. The average high doesn't dip below 80 until Nov 8th. So it's 80 and above till Nov 7th.

So my answer would be colder weather before anything else. Which is why I'm sending out resumes as we speak.

I hear you, CBroadband. I actually own a house and 40 acres in PA but live in Nashville in an apartment because there aren't any jobs up home anymore. I miss the snow, though in Tennessee you'll get one or two a year. The arrival of my Swiss Colony catalog generally sets me off for Christmas.

I love that...me too, lol! Snow and cool weather definitely get me in the spirit! Plus Pumpkin Spice Lattes, Gingerbread Hot Chocolate and anything that smells like cinnamon or candy canes (peppermint cream)!
