i don't plan on having the epidural, don't like the fact that alot of people have to wear a catheter after having it, they also can't move around during labour.

the plan is gas and air and a shot of pethadine, but we'll see...

I had a spinal aneasthesia...it´s like epidural....but worse....but necessary for an c-section.....when I wrote worse...I didn´t mean it was actually bad...I did´nt have any pains...and felt my legs after 3 hourse I think...or maybe 4....and I thinhk the epidural doesn´t even make the legs nump....so if it would happen...I wouldn´t be worried...it will be all fine....even with the epidural...and even if You happened to need a katheder...(at least then You don´t have to worry about going to the bathromm)

Thanks for sharing! I had an epiderhal with my first pregnancy and was glad I did. I didnt feel much of anything for a few hours but my mean doctor turned off the medicine and I felt the last hour and a half when I pushed. Not the funniest thing but not as bad as I expected! I will be using epiderhal again and I have a different doctor who says if I dont want to feel anything then I will be pain free.. we will see how true it turns out to be

Yeah, good luck with that!!!

I had a girl in my anti-natal classes who was so earth mother it was ridiculous, really. It was her first child and she was doing everything naturally, her body was made for this and she would embrace the pain before having her child and then eat the placenta for the nutrients afterwards.

My midwife was her midwife and this female apparently screamed bl**dy murder and demanded every method of painkilling available. I figured the placenta eating was a non-starter

I stand by my "get knocked out and handed a baby"!!!!!!

lol...that last one almost killed me Mo....lmao...but Iīm like that, too....Iīm in no way whiny person...never been....even after the c-section the nurses were wondering because I was walking very good after it....(after I started to feel my legs again...)...other women had to be forced to start walking...I couldnīt wait to finally get up and use the bathroom again.
BUT....Iīm sure if I had a normal birth....I would get the epidural, too...if itīs possible why not ease the pain.....Iīm the total opposite of You Kelly Ann...Iīm a big fan of our meds....I donīt like taking em myself....but I know how good they are and trust in them....

not everyone is that tolerable of pain, I for one was the worlds biggest whinner when it came to pain. After my daughter was delivered by c section I could not get up until the next day and then they had to rush a wheel chair over as I almost passed out in the hallway. I had a room mate like you, got up shortly after returning from a c section, I won't tell you my thoughts at the time! (Ok, that was the pain talking at the time!)

Despite it all, I would have done it a few more times if I had been able. I loved being pregnant and having a baby in the house.

When I was pregnant advice was to have some castor oil to get labour going. Labour is not what got going, and I would not recommend you try it unless you like your bathroom! Another thing was to go for a bumpy car ride, which only serves to give you an upset stomach. Try as we must, but really, labour starts when labour starts and there is not a thing we can do about it except wait.

Well I havent got to wait that long....anytime now as im 37 weeks!!!!

I see where you're all coming from with pain relief and my option is to swallow as many paracetamols I can without having to resort to other methods of pain relief.
