Nathan had to see the pediatric allergist today

Well...whew. It's finally over!
It was pretty rough there for a minute or so when they actually did the scratches on his back. That was definitely pretty rough, but we survived it.
That baby is allergic to grass and trees. But REALLY allergic to cow's milk and cats!
A little allergic to dogs. It's not bad enough he's going to have to have shots though. I'm thankful for that. He's got to have vizobid. That stuff really, really works.
And - the tube is out of his right ear now and the ear drum has sealed up!! But the tube is still in his left ear. I hope it comes out soon.
Anyway....I'm so tired now!! Poor baby. I know it hurt so bad when they did the scratches...I couldn't believe it!!
And the nurse practitioner kept saying he has speech delays??? I don't think so. He talks and we understand what he's saying. I didn't really care for this particular NP. She was okay. I was not impressed with her at all. She sat on the phone for several minutes having a nice little chat with her daughter. It wasn't an emergency. She had gotten her first paycheck. sigh. I was nearly livid. Then she said Nathan was hyper. NO he wasn't. He was tired, it was past his naptime and she just insisted he was hyper. I was about ready to show her hyper! Anyway...I'm glad it's over! We have a few answers to why he throws up so much.

Hope little Nathan starts to feel better. I can relate I took my daughter in when she was 2 to have her tested for allergies as well. They must have pricked her almost 40 times. She too was allergies to various types of grass, sage brush you name it. Anyhow the doctor at that time said to bring her back in when she turned 7 to be rechecked. So about 5-6 months ago I had taken her in to be re-tested and she out grew everything and no more allergies. I was thilled to say the least. Best of luck to you and your little one!

My daughter has had eczema since she was 3 months old. It was really so bad that we'd be up every night with her, tending to her skin. I never had cats at the time she was diagnosed with it but her skin, with treatment would clear up for a month or so then flare up unexpectedly. When the cats came, and I am ashamed to admit, I never wouldve put it down to the cats. her skin would be constantly infected and weeping al the time. So, at 3 and a half , I said, enoughs enough, I couldnt go on seeing her in agony all the time and sent her off to see a chinese doctor. The results came back and said animal fur was the main culprit, amongst other things but not so worse. The cats were put in a little house out the back and with stopping her creams from the doctor also (because she said they use to hurt her) her skin is beautiful and we havent had no problems now for nearly ayear!! She s a different little girl altogether.

Poor little guy. Hope the other ear heals quickly.

Sorry about that idiot nurse. Just because thay have a degree does not mean they know everything about every child.

Poor guy! And it really hurts when you have to hold your child for the doctor to do something painful to him. I've been there. Begging the Lord to let you take the pain for him.

And that nurse would have heard from me. Plainly.

I hope he gets better soon!

I hope Nathan's other ear heals up soon. I know it was probably tough to sit there while he was going through that but, atleast now you know what he's allergic to. I hate when a doctor or nurse sees a child for 10 minutes and starts to make assumptions about them. I know you probably wanted to tell her what you thought of her. Good luck to you and Nathan.

I hope Nathan gets better very soon. It is horrible when your child is sick.

There are some things that the NP might be able to tell about a child just by seeing him for a few minutes, but hyper activity is not one of them. There are so many things that can cause a child to be "hyper". You cannot diagnose a child as hyperactive just by one little visit. That is obsurd.
