My Dog Sam
Dear Abby, I too was picked on when I was a child and I too turned to our dog Queenie. She always gave me love and she always listened. Bless you.
Me, myself and I. I always take the week of Thanksgiving off work and on Monday of that week I decorate while DH is at work and DS is at daycare. That way when they get home they can be surprised by the tree. I love seeing their faces when they walk in! This year I'm getting a 5 foot tree just for DS to decorate in our newly added family room that will strictly have only his ornaments on it. It'll be the little kiddie tree!

most years, until recent ones, I do it all. put up both trees. They are both 7 to 7 1/2 ft. One is slim and pre-lit, the other is full and the kind that has the color coded branches you put in the slots. I love Christmas so much and the decorations, but to be honest, putting the tree together, arranging the branches the way I like and putting the lights on, (I'm a perfectionist) is sort of a love/hate thing. I love seeing the tree come together and the lights going on, but much of the time I am having hissy fits while I'm doing it. Because of this, my children wouldn't help me with the lights if I paid 'em. I'm really not much fun to be around , especially when I am putting the lights on. I have been known to get them on, only to yank them off and redo them all. One year I did this 3 times. My two youngest children who still live at home do help with putting the big tree together, somewhat, and they also help put the ornaments on. I'm such a fanatic and perfectionist about the whole thing, that I am always rearranging something on the tree, even after Christmas! Like, I'll have to move a branch more this way or that way, or I'll notice two or three lights right together, or an ornament that is not hanging straight down, but is leaning against a branch, or two ornaments near each other that are too much alike. I could go on and on, but I'll spare you, lol. I would so love to get a really nice, pre-lit tree to replace the big one, but can't afford it. Maybe someday.

I decorate it...simply because everyone else is too lazy and it's my mom that begs me to put it up to begin with. Don't get me wrong I love Christmas and want a BIG tree (ours is a little 2 foot or less thing), but jeez. Why am I the one that gets stuck with it? Because I am the creative one. So my mom tells me, but this could be very true compared to her because she has no imagination and not at all poetic when it comes to creativity.

Me and my wife put up our tree and ultimately when her side looks better than mine I get her to fix the lights on my side. And then I complain about how it needs more lights LOL. Every year its the same.
The background on my desktop is a collage of our Christmas trees from the 5 years we have been together so it's a pretty special time for both of us.

It depends now. My brother & I are both grown (he's 23) & we no longer live at home. I tend to come home for a few weeks during the holidays my dad & I have decorated it for like the past 10 years or so. Mom always likes to see the end result lol. She'll put the decorations up around the house though.
