I know you're asking for "trendy" or "hot" but I'll say Legos... they may never be "hot" from year to year, but they're a perrennial favorite and almost every kid gets them at least once in their childhood... just like the Fisher-Price school bus (with that kid with the pot on his head)...

I would have to go with Transformers and GI Joe. Seems there is always one surprise hit...I wonder what it could be?

I agree with transformers for the boys but I don't see anything anything yet for the girls. My three nieces are not overly excited about anything so far so I have just been looking for little pet shop stuff because they all love it.

star I think it will be

something electronic, perhaps some new item to go with the Wii system which seems so popular right now. Movie toys are always popular too.

Barbies seem to be always hot (ugh....I hate barbies so much....i´m a tomboy), legos (never the IT-thing on Christmas....but always a great sell for stores I guess)...in Germany another kid´s favorite is Playmobil...I don´t know if You people know it....here´s some pictures
http://store.playmobilusa.com/on/dem.../Sites-US-Site

I loved it as a child myself and they´ve been developing very much since I played with it...there´s a townhouse, a pet hospital....at vet, African themed things are new....for the girls there is even an mermaid themed collection....cars, motocycles, animals.....ít has so many things...what was really big when I was young were Western things like Cowboys and Native Americans....there were Forts, Saloon´s and these type of things....it´s not that popular now...but I´m sure it will come back again

for kandice of course all things Thomas and Mickey Mouse will be big
