Do you still?

Does your kid's school still do Nativity plays? We have Holiday Concerts now and they don't do the Nativity play anymore. I wish my kids had had the opportunity to be in one of those like I was.

My kids are no longer school age, but as far as I know only the Church based schools still do the nativity plays.

Seems everyone is so worried about offending someone, they forget that offending those who believe in the nativity is exactly what they are doing.

I am seriously glad the nursery/school my eldest goes to, still does them, and by the time it comes time for doing the nativities i will have 2 of my girls in the nursery (my middle daughter starts in Nov) i can not wait to see them both in it.

It is not a church based school my eldest goes to, but i know a lot of schools do not do them anymore, its really sad i know i would be very sad if the school didn't allow them.

I don't know any schools around here that do them anymore. Both of my nieces went to pre-school at churches last year and they only had holiday get togethers where the kids sang for the families.

It's a shame and I remember back when I was in 3rd grade (mid 70's) we were having a Christmas play and I was in the choir. We learned lots of Christian Christmas songs, The First Noel, Silent Night, etc. After several weeks of learning them the school principal said we could not sing those types of songs and we had to learn all new songs like Jingle Bells, Frosty the Snowman, etc.

when i was in primary school we did the nativity every year, I was always the angel Gabriel because i was the only one to fit in the costume. But when my little brother and sister started going they did a christmas play with weird songs which weren't christmassy at all!

My daughter's school only does plays until they are seven. Although not strictly a Nativity, the play always has the birth of Jesus included. The last one she was in was the Nativity as seen through the eyes of the Innkeeper. She played an Angel, unfortunately she had a broken arm at the time, but her robes were able to hide the cast! The first year that she was at school she played a Star but caught chickenpox so missed the performances, she really hasn't had much luck when it comes to plays! But I must admit to missing the Nativity Play like we used to do at school.

They worry so much about offending non-Christians, they don't care about offending Christians.
