Impressive list, ryansrs1!
Virtually anything by Joan Armatrading, Marshall Crenshaw, White Animals, Elvis Costello, Nick Lowe, Rockpile, Dave Edmunds, Split Enz, Ian Dury & The Blockheads, Rachel Sweet, Ö (Iíll add more as I think of them). Some of these are still around too!
Radio had pretty much hit rock bottom (and has stayed there) by the mid Eighties so I had to read magazines and hang out in record shops (remember those?) to find the really good music shunned by corporate broadcast vampires. Thank God for cassette players in cars back then and now CDs and MP3 player ports!
I like Bette Davis Eyes by Kim Carnes - got good memories to that one. I agree totally with Vienna - Ultravox, Fade to Grey - Visage. Also very attached to Plant Earth - Duran Duran, To Cut a Long Story Short - Spandau Ballet, Goody Two Shoes - Adam Ant, New Life - Depeche Mode, Personal Jesus - Depeche Mode (although Marilyn Manson's version is way better in 2004), Tainted Love - Soft Cell
Jump - Van Halen, Unskinny Bop - Poison, Love is a Battlefield - Pat Benatar, Thriller (of course) - Michael Jackson
