That is how I do it. I look at all of the ornaments that everyone has out before christmas and try to figure out what I like and then come up with a theme for next year. Then the weeks after christmas I spend buying as many ornaments as I can that fit that theme.

We always have silver & gold ornaments when we put up a real tree. But my mom has a white tree that she puts up & decorates it with pink adornments. We alternate trees every year (this year its the fake white tree ) we also put up ornaments that my brother & myself made as children & other special ornaments that represent us.

We have an ongoing search for original Santas, but a secondary collection of both classic, & Disney, Pooh related ornaments has crept in over the years.

No theme! Just ornaments that are meaningful with white lights and mostly red and gold balls. Last year, we had a smaller tree on a table because our son had just started walking and was getting into everything and we did a red and gold theme... just used the ornaments iwth red and/or gold on them. It looked nice but I missed my ornaments! When I have a bigger house, I hope to have a couple of trees and do some theme trees!

No theme, unless you consider family traditional trees a theme. I have ornaments my kids made, ornaments from my grandmother, ornaments I bought over 20 years ago when I took over tree decorating from my grandmother. I have lost family members thru the years, so I have a peice of the ribbons from their flower arrangements on my tree. It makes me feel like they are still there in spirit celebrating the holidays with me. I have some of my mothers favorite ornaments and ornaments that remind me of family members and events. No theme. For me Christmas is a time of family, friends and all loved ones sharing in the spirit of the season. Thats what my tree reflects. I will try to post pictures for all to see.

I do like themed trees. They are very nice and really neat to look at. But, they are not for me. I saw a pink and white barbie tree one year and thought that was the cutest thing. I saw a black tree in walmart covered with those bronze colored ornaments. That was beautiful. So to each his own. Whatever brings you joy and happiness is what its all about.

I guess I could call mine themed. It's full of memories, I have ornaments dated back when I was a little kid on up to now full of ornaments I add every year. I have my grandchildren pick out ornaments to buy to add to our tree. I always take a permanent ink marker and add the year to every ornament I buy. Year after year I love to look them over to see what year it's from and the memories it brings.

My main tree is burgundy and gold with crystal ornaments all over it. My kitchen pencil tree is all rustic country themed, the smaller tree in the game room is burgundy and gold as well as the 2 foot tree in my bedroom, then I do a white tree in the game room as well and it's a patriotic theme.
