My Merry Christmas Announcement

Christmas Controversy & Opinion Visit Defend Christmas.com Presented by Defend Christmas, this forum covers the difficult topics of the season -- from the famed and fabled War on Christmas to church and state debates to using the star or the angel on the Christmas tree. Modern Christmas celebration has it's complications -- schools are divided, some Christmas light displays are too much, some even argue that it is better to call it a "holiday" tree. Some merchants won't even say "Merry Christmas"! Where there is controversy, there is insanity. Even in Christmas.

Appeals Court Rules Schools Can Ban Christmas Carols

The federal appeals court in Philadelphia has upheld a New Jersey school district’s ban on religious songs during the Christman holiday season. In their ruling, three judges of the Third Circuit Court of Appeals noted that such songs were once common in public schools, but that times have changed. Michael Stratechuk sued the Maplewood-South Orange School District [...]

In one breath they say they want to be all inclusive, in the next they state, except for those people, we do not want them included.

They did not ban all Christmas Carols just the religious ones. I don't see a problem here religion of any form should be kept out of schools.

Why?
Take religion out of school? BUT its ok to teach children about Homosexuality, Birth Control, Abortions, Safe Sex, & Politics.. the list can go on an on how corrupt the school system is .. but how dare they teach children about religion. Something that might actually be a good thing?
What a sad world we live in.
I dont think those things I listed above should be taught in school and yet they are. PUSHED pretty much. But yet if I want my 6 year old sings "Away in A Manger" its banned? Can anyone else see how wrong this is? Or is it just me??

SOme

Jana - some people (including some here) love to get people angry and ignore what Christmas is about. Instead they focus on Santa and Rudolph instead of the real meaning of Christmas. They think taking away positive things that we were taught in school - or that were at least allowed is a good thing - because it allows them to focus on other areas that they feel are more pressing (because we all know birth control pills are more important than going to heaven).....
Whats funny is they always use the separation of church and state - WHICH IS NOT IN THE CONSTITUTION! It is nowhere to be found - nothing close. It comes from discussion between leader and it was not to be used as people do today. It was so the state did NOT take away religious rights in the school and public places - NOT that they would keep it all out because they could....

In the end - i guess all we can do is pray for these folks......
