Red Frosting for your Holiday cookies

It never fails when I make my frosting for my cookies the red always turns out pink. Doesn't seem to matter how many drops of food coloring I use. Here's a few tips I've learned about getting the color you desire.
-The more food coloring drops you add the darker the color.
-Make your frosting the day before..the longer it sits with food coloring in it the darker it becomes. That way you can add less food coloring to achieve the red color you are looking for.

* Some companies offer red gels you can use and I know Wilton's makes a No taste red dye if you are limited on time and don't want to wait for the right redness of the frosting.
