UK totally covered in snow

We've been having a lot of snow in the UK the past few weeks and it sat on the ground during Christmas

The amazing NASA satellite image below shows the entire country covered in snow!

I cant ever remember this happening but I love it.

the things is, i LOVE the snow, i LOVE the winter, but why oh why does this country come to a stand still whenever we get a fair bit of snow? last week buses were out of service, hardly anywhere was gritted, schools and businesses were shut. i don't think this applies to the whole country but it was certainly the case in my neck of the woods.

Vancouver is like that! One inch of snow and they close everything.

It is very white. A few years ago we had all the great lakes completely freeze, something that had not happened for over a decade.
I thought we where supposed to be having global warming?

We had about 1/2 inch to an inch last night. Nothing much compared to most people but for this part of the UK it's a big deal!!!!

Does look very pretty though!

Yes I thought exactly the same!

We have about 2 more inches today, the roads are very icey, we rescued 2 cars with the Land Rover on the way to work then saw all the traffic and came home!
