My first job was as a paper boy in Riverside Ca. I started as a freshman and delivered papers on my bike for 4 years. Never missed a day.

My first job was at an egg processing plant in Westminster, MD. I ran 6 machines that would separate the different size eggs and then these claw looking things would gently drop the eggs into the cartons. Then machine would close the cartons and put the exiration date on the side. I also had a huge crush on the co-manager of the place.

I forgot but actually babysitting was my first job before working for the public. It was usually a few hours here and there so the parents could go out for the evening. I loved babysitting. I ended up doing that full time as an adult when my children were real little. It's very rewarding because now the kids, who are young adults, still stay in contact with me and tell me how much fun it was to come to my house. They tell me they wish they were little again so they can do the fun things we use to do. I tell them to come on over now! I took the kids EVERYWHERE from Six Flags, museums, swimming and more, we had a blast!

That is great! That sounds like the owner of where I work. It was his first job as a teenager. Now, 60 years later, he owns the place. Yep, he has been there over 60 years! He is an awesome man who really appreciates his employees!

I worked at a snack bar adjacent to the press room at The Pittsburgh Press and Post-Gazette... I worked for "under the table" wages... it was owned by a family of women... mothers, daughters, sisters, cousins... of which I was none (I got the job because the owner was on my Mom's bowling team)... when times got tough and they had to start laying people off, guess who got cut first..?

Hint: me = not female, not related...

My first job was working at a local mall at a place called "Perry't T Shirts." It was exactly what it sounds like. The store had all these transfers people could pick like movie stars, animals, whatever people had an interest in to go on the T shirts. We also hand lettered the shirts and attached them with a real hot iron. I got burned so bad more than once, but then again, I am a NATURAL clutz. I actually became the assistant manager for that store and am still friends to this day with the lady who was the manager.

I started babysitting at 12 for my neighbours who two years later moved to Virginia. I was then invited to visit them in the summer three years in a row and when I was 15 I went with the children to the Montessori school and worked as a teachers aid. I didn't speak more than two words of English but learned a great deal from those kids. It was a wonderful experience !

my mom told me when I was 15 to make sure i had a job lined up for the summer (this was march) and I didn't get it done....

first day of summer break she woke me and told me to get dressed because she found me a job....

i spent the summer working for the water and sewer department in my town....

ain't that some crap!

True story though....taught me that i needed to get an education and have a job lined up for next summer!

Occasional babysitting from 14 to 16.

My parents were pushing me to get a job my senior year in high school & I didn't want to. I had put in an application at a car dealership & chiropractor's office for after school work. Nothing. I had done babysitting for an attorney in town, & he called me, asking me to work for him! Thank God.

I worked as a file clerk after school. I think I made $25/week for working 10 hours. I became the firm's secretary the summer after high school graduation. I left in the fall to go to college to be a legal assistant & I helped a high school friend get my job. I went back there for my college externship & the friend served at my wedding reception. We work two blocks from each other now, still exchange Christmas cards, & are FB friends.

I knew from third grade that I wanted to be a "secretary", because that's what my mom did before staying at home with us while we were little, but never knew whether I wanted to go legal, medical, or general. My first job steered me toward legal, and now 19 years later, I'm still a legal secretary by title, legal assistant by degree.
