More than anything I love the REAL reason behind it, the birth of Christ & how he came here on Earth & gave more love than any one person could ever give. But I also love the nostalgia that the holiday gives and ALL THE GOOD FOOD!

I wanted to add my two cents to this thread!

While I am not religious. I did want to say that I agree with what many others have stated in previous replies.

Christmas for me is about the warmth. Yes the warmth of inside of our homes, on a cold winter day but also the warmth in my heart.

Knowing that when you go down the street, there will be lights, trees and decorations. Knowing that when you come home, there is a beautiful tree and beautiful decorations waiting to be seen.

The lights glisten and sparkle when I view them, shining their spirit into my heart, into my head.

The scent of baking cookies, ready for everyone to eat.

The presents under the tree - with decorative paper, ribbons and love. Love, in a gift that was purchased or made especially for you.

The Christmas specials and movies, viewed each season since I was a child. Charlie Brown Christmas forever remains in my heart.

The magic of the season, the belief in santa claus, reminding us....we were all children once.

The mantel - adorned with beautiful garlands, trinkets and lights.

Sharing this love, these feelings....with people you love, is my Merry Christmas.

For me,It goes back to being a kid.I had an amazing set of Parents, who no matter the finance's,we ALWAYS had an amazing Christmas.Gifts,Food,everything.My Mum was thoughtful in how she gifted us,and of course Santa had a few special things he left.Decorations bursting outta every nook and cranny, music always on,candy jars & dishes on every table she had,Lights in all the windows, tree as big as a door and even wider.Baking with my mum and sisters, even my dad.Going shopping and spending the whole day out.Memories as a kid, teen and now that im a mum I try to do as good a job as my parents did.Scents even will trigger that warm fuzzy christmas feeling.
I try to give a simple answer to this, but I don't think I ever will be able too.If Christmas isn't in you, then you'll never understand how us Christmas lovers feel.

I found the clip on youtube. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nHi9yjcql1Q About 3 minutes into the clip is what I'm talking about.
I think Ralph summed it up nicely!

After seeing this clip, I watched the whole episode on youtube. Thanks for posting.

I am like so many here that cannot pinpoint exactly what it is that makes Christmas so special. It would take a book to write to explain it all!

At some point in time, I think someone impacted Christmas for me. My Mom has always put alot of time and effort into making Christmas special and I think that feeling that I got because of that has made it very special for me. But it is just more than that...I love being with and around family, I love the crowds at the mall, the way everyone acts during that time of year....there is just so much!
