A Christmas Carol

I hate to admit this, but I've never read "A Christmas Carol" by Dickens. I would like to read the original book but when I try to look for it, there are so many books that come up with that title/author. Are they all the same? I know there are children's versions which are obviously simplified. How do I know if the book I get is actually the classic? The *classic* is the one I want.

Thanks

Don't feel bad that you never read the book, I never have either. I have only seen the movie and was actually in a Christmas Carol play in school. I love the movie though and seen it A LOT!

I am sure if you did a search with Charles Dickens as the author it would be the original? Someone else here might be able to help with that. Good luck.

Project Gutenberg online has the original, "classic" text. It includes pictures of Dickens' manuscript pages---you can't get more original than that:

A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens

You can also download various e-book versions at Gutenberg.

The book is also available on Google Books:

A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens

This is also downloadable, in case you want to print it out.

OR listen to an audiobook of the original text:

Audiobook

You can stream it, or you can download it to your computer or put it on your MP3 player or burn it onto CDs.

All of these online versions are free. Enjoy!

Thanks MerryCarrey!

That is very handy! I have yet to read it as well. I have seen the bill murray version, but not any others. Wait, I have seen it in a local play a few times. I have not see the jim carrey animated one yet, but I imagine I may this year.
