I agree about eating out, not something I would enjoy.....I do like Ballcoach's idea though, thanks for sharing....I host Christmas dinner at my place and have since losing my Mom, but I'm sure the day will come that it may get to be a bit much for me, and this idea is something my family would go for, I'm sure.....

Thanks all. Well I hope she will change her mind if I help out. If not I think I will stay at home and make a dinner for myself, hubby and the kids. To me Christmas isnt about sitting in a restaurant when the kids want to be playing with their toys. And like someone mentioned, the food might not be fresh either!! So I am definitely not giving in to the idea of eating out on Christmas day....even if I have to attempt to cook the Turkey myself!! haha.

She'll have to find a different time to do it - Britain doesn't have Thanksgiving!!

Depends if you want to go Canadian or American!!

Canada is the 11th October, 2010 (2nd Monday in October)
USA is the 25th November, 2010 (I think usually the last Thursday in November)

Alternatively, you can have 2 practices!!!!

Good for you!
I don't know if they have this where you are, but here you can buy a turkey stuffed and ready for the oven, Just unwrap and pop in the oven, very easy and no mess.

I'm 37 & never cooked a holiday meal either. We ate out for Thanksgiving one year & Mom said never again! Maybe you could do chilli, soups, sandwiches, & finger foods. We've done all of those thugs before & enjoyed them.

I actually posted a quick reply but ended up with the above reply! I think all the ideas were really good ones. My sister-in-law and I do the sides and our husbands smoke the turkey on Thanksgiving and grill the prime rib on Christmas Day. Last year, we did the restaurant thing at Red Lobster because my MIL didn't want to travel 45 minutes to our place. It was okay, but not Christmasy enough for me.
