Seasons of Change (more lunch time poetry)

Seasons of Change
By V. Rodney Harrison Jr. – 10-07-2010

Fresh buds of flowers blooming throughout,
With a scent of honeysuckles in the warm wind.
Color filled rainbows escort mists of rain,
While blue birds with their nests begin to tend.

A cool plunge in a stream as the sun pours down,
Cold homemade ice cream for all that desire.
A faint trace of freshly trimmed lawns in the air,
Beach nights of friends and cool drinks by a fire.

Leaves falling gracefully to the cool brisk ground,
With vibrant colors full of orange, yellow and red.
The days light grows shorter to auburn shaded dusks,
Chilly nights accompany a harvest moon over head.

Chimneys at full throttle keeping those inside so warm,
Homes covered from top to bottom with twinkling lights.
Freshly baked cookies being happily consumed,
Snow falling softly through the silence of starry nights.

Time stops for no man - nor does that of nature,
One season must yield to the next that awaits.
Delight should be given to each one with utter glee,
For good comes from all that God - for us - creates.

Rod, I don't know what to say ! I am speechless because you take my breath away with your poetry. It is so "stereotypical" but I guess being that you are so fit and into weight lifting/training I guess I never thought such a sensitive individual lay not too far below the surface. You have not only touched my soul with your poetry but also my way of looking at things. You have taught me truly that the old saying "you can't judge a book by its cover" is so very true. Thank you is all I can say. Your poems mean so much to me, particularly at this time in my life. You have given me and all of us the start of a wondrous Christmas season by publishing the very precious gift of some of your poetry !!! God bless you and your family and thank you for being one of my amazing Christmas friends !!

Ah, first Rod those are awesome can anyone post their work, maybe I should read the rules... Next, Snata's Helper, I feel your pain, and although your ex-husband may not have worked out, but it is like a good friend of mine once said to me LT it may not have worked out, but when you didn't know a rose had thorns and you grabed the steam the 1st time, it hurt, but still you know it holds beauty and when you were ready with caution you held another rose, careful of the thorns and drank in all the sweetness, well maybe when you are ready you can once again reach for a new rose with the knowledge and wisdom so as you pick the right one for you... It took me years to figure out what she meant but now I know....
