You know, I'm no "tree hugger" or anything, but I think it's kind of sad to see a tree that old and big cut down just to be up for a couple months as decoration. I know they make artificial trees that large, because I've decorated one a couple of times.

This particular tree came from someone's yard who donated it. They were planning to remove it anyway. Building an addition perhaps.

Well I do agree that it's sad. Every year I see that dang Rockafeller Center Christmas tree getting cut down and it's so sad!

I suppose in this case...if they were going to remove it anyways.

Before this year we couldn't even have a tree bigger than 6'6" because we had 7' ceilings. So we had to be able to fit it in the stand. I actually left these two greenish-brown marks on the ceiling from where we got one too big and it just didn't fit. I remember santa being up there shoved up against the ceiling many times. hah hah.

We moved now, so we are able to get a little bit bigger one..thank goodness.

I'm sure we'll still push it though.

What did Emmet say that Pa Otter said when he brought home the Christmas branch in Emmet Otter's Jug Band Christmas?

"Because I didn't cut the whole tree down that tree will still be around in a hundred years"

I won't cut a live tree just for Christmas, farm grown or not.

I'm not morally against it, but I find it to be a much bigger hassle. I'm quite pleased with even low dollar artificial trees. It's so much more about what's on the tree than the tree itself for me. I understand those that have a tradition of having live trees, because Christmas is nothing without tradition.
