Deck The Halls original version....

Original Version
  • Cold is the man who can't love,
  • Fa la la la la, la la la la,
  • The old mountains of dear Wales,
  • Fa la la la la, la la la la,
  • To him and his warmest friend,
  • Fa la la, la la la, la la la,
  • A cheerful holiday next year,
  • Fa la la la la, la la la la.
  • Cold is the snow on Mount Snowdon,
  • Fa la la la la, la la la la,
  • Even though it has a flannel blanket on it,
  • Fa la la la la, la la la la,
  • Cold are the people who don't care,
  • Fa la la, la la la, la la la,
  • To meet together on New Year's Eve,
  • Fa la la la la, la la la la.

It mentions WALES!!!!!!!

Who Wrote It?
  • Many have credited J.P. McCaskey with writing the lyrics of "Deck the Halls." He was the editor of the first written version of the song in Franklin Square Song Collection. It is not known who the original lyricist is.Holiday-Ideas.us: History of Deck the Halls4

Deck the Halls! The music to Deck the Halls is believed to Welsh in origin and was reputed to have come from a tune called "Nos Galan" dating back to the sixteenth century. In the eighteenth century Mozart used the tune to Deck the Halls for a violin and piano duet J.P. McCaskey is sometimes credited with the lyrics of Deck the Halls but he only edited the Franklin Square Song Collection in which the lyrics were first published. The first publication date of Deck the Halls is 1881. The author is unknown but the words are said to originate in America.
