I definitely think those trees are making a come back.

I like to get a real tree but only if it's from a local tree farm and we go cut it down. If you do that, then get it into water really soon and never let it run dry they will last a good two months (they have for me). They suck up the water though, so you have to water them like 3 times a day at first, but to me it's worth it.

I don't mind killing a tree if it's from a farm and the farmer plants another one right away. If those trees are grown expressly for that purpose and none are wasted because we actually go cut them down...well that seems fine to me.

I agree totally with your last statement. Plus that is how these people make money. Commerce baby, commerce.

Support the Christmas Tree Farmers of America! They got it pretty tough especially since they lose more and more of their business to the fake trees every year. They have families they wanna give a good Christmas to too! Besides...we kill plants and animals so we can eat/wear/write on them all of the time. These trees are grown to be cut down and are in a controlled environment...we're not just running through a forest with an ax like Paul Bunyan! lol

Tree farming is a legit business and those who desire a live xmas tree is fine. My personal choice is not to kill a tree just for a month of decorating. Those GIANT trees they cut for the WHite House and Rockefeller square each year...they take many, MANY years to grow. I'd rather see those places plant a tree or several and decorate them each year.

we use a fake tree because that's what we've grown up with. And tree allergies run rampant in my family. my brother is severly allergic to pine (and most other trees) so, if we had a real tree, he wouldn't be able to come visit during his school break.
