Grandma Walton in It s Wonderfull Life

I was just watching It s A Wonderfull Life again with my babygirl after she picked and suddenly I saw a lady that reminded me of Grandma Walton....who was played by Ellen Corby....I checked it immediately and it is true....Ellen Corby plays Miss Davis....never credited tho cos it is such a small role.....she´s the woman who only asks for 17,50dollars when the bank almost has to close and George loans the people the money from his honeymoon savings

Now I know it sure aint a huuuuuuuuuge thing....lol...I just thought I share it....since she played in 2 Christmas Movies then.....It s A Wonderfull Life and the Waltons pilot Homecoming.....I love her and always enjoyed her role on the Waltons.

Ellen Corby is also in "Pocketful of Miracles" as a mute beggar-lady. IMDB.com says she is an extra in "Babes in Toyland" (1934, a.k.a. "March of the Wooden Soldiers"), but I haven't spotted her.

Agree! We always run it on Christmas Eve or Christmas Day. Even though Christmas isn't specifically mentioned, there are Christmas decorations all through it.

Wow! I have watched that movie AT LEAST 200 times and didn't realize it was her but I never really watched The Walton's so that might be why I never made the connection.

According to "The It's a Wonderful Life Book," director Frank Capra took Ellen Corby aside before shooting that scene, out of Jimmy Stewart's earshot, and whispered to her to ask for an odd amount. Stewart was surprised, and improvised his response to the unscripted line. I always thought her reading of the line was just perfect: a little desperate, a little hopeful, a little sheepish.

wow....that is a scene that seems really real...know what im saying? i love that scene when he leans over the counter and kisses her cheek for her being so modest and onlx asking for that little amount....i dont know how but after he kissed her it reminded me a little of when grandpa walton was doing something to her and she would always chuckle or looks shy....it suddenly hit me and i knew it is ellen corby
