Need a new camera and your help...

I need a new digital camera. My better camera broke during Opening Day, here in Cincinnati. I want an SLR. Do you have one? If you do, please tell me the brand and what you really like about it. I need it by April 30th but want it way before to play around with. Your help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks.

I was a lifelong Canon man before switching to Nikon when I went digital. The accessories are expensive -- the flash I want is $500, for example -- but the camera is fast, fits perfectly in my hands, is very intuitive and runs forever on a single charge. I now have a Nikon D80 and a new D90.

Thank you both for your input. I don't think I'll be going SLR. They are a bit more than I planned on spending. Now, what to get. I want one that will help me get a moving object. What to do? What to do?

An Osmond, well, Osmonds actually. Well, you did ask. I'm going to a concert of theirs on April 30th. So, what I really need is something with a quicker shutter speed.

Are the Osmonds racing now?

Seriously, we need more information. If you're going to be shooting pictures of them from a distance on a stage in motion -- say, dancing -- a point and shoot isn't going to work. Any idea how close you will be? What kind of shots do you want?

Our new state senator here locally is an Osmond, by the way. There's tons of them here.

I love my Nikon P90, but I haven't put it to use at a concert. I can snap moving geese and children playing soccer with the "sport scene" feature that let's you take about 15 quick images with one press of the button. It has good zoom on it. I was going to go SLR until I found many of the features I wanted existed in this camera without stopping to change lenses to capture deer in motion for example. Maybe you know somebody who can lend you one so it will give you more time to shop for the style of camera that suits your needs.

Okay, I bit the dust and bought a new camera off Amazon. I posted about it in "I got a new camera." After doing some searching and finding some videos on cameras I decided on a Canon PowerShot SX130IS 12.1 MP Digital Camera with 12x Wide Angle Optical Image Stabilized Zoom with 3.0-Inch LCD.

I think it will do the trick for me. Oh, I'm in the front row for this one. I'll be going to Branson to see them in June and I'll be in the 2nd row for two shows. (I did tell you all that I'm a fan, didn't I?)

I know there's a ton of them....even a lot of wannabe's....though not sure why!
