That's excellent! Do you listen to music when you jog?

Do you listen to music when running?!

Oh...you better believe that I do!

I've got a mish-mash of tunes that I listen to...Kelly Clarkson, Glee, Miranda Lambert, Outkast, Keith Urban, etc. All upbeat tunes.

I'm sure like you...music really motivates me!

Good luck irishsnow! I started jogging a little this week...a very little!! After our 4 mile walk in the morning I started jogging around the block - just a 1/2 mile! Still don't love it... LOL! I'm going to try to keep it up!!! 1/2 mile is better than none, right?

1/2 mile is a great start! When I first started running I couldn't run for more than 30 seconds, no joke! 30 seconds run, 1 minute walk, 30 seconds run, etc.

Thanks! Every spring I start jogging again...never do love it! I ran a 5k in the late spring & then never ran again until just this past week! But I did a 1/2 mile or a little more every day this week after our walk! I'll see what Tuesday brings if I continue... We are going to the lake this weekend where I do more bike riding than walking (or running) but MAYBE I'll get a little jog in. We'll see!!

I've been running regularly the last couple weeks. The air has cooled and the humidity has dropped, and it's lovely to be outside.

I've noticed a few things. Like most of you, I usually run with music. But I've found I can make a longer run without it. I think music amps up my tempo a bit, whereas if I'm listening to my breathing and footfalls, I keep my own beat.

The other thing I've noticed: On nights when I've not slept well, or not enough, come the next day, the running is tough. I feel like I have no gas in the tank.

Ditto that for diet. Eating right makes a huge difference in how I feel on the road.

I guess all of this is just a very long-winded way of saying health is a whole package. Diet, exercise, sleep--each affects the others, whether or not we're aware of it. Good meals, quality rest, and exercise that's appropriate for you, personally.

And don't fret if you feel like you're losing more ground than you gain. Happens to all of us.

Hope this finds everyone well...

I heard from my sister-in-law that my nephew wants to enter the SPCA 3k race again this year. That's a great motivation to have someone ask me to join them so I am trying to get back to training. I have had a few health setbacks so I feel like I am starting over.

It's a nice little run around the State Fair of Texas grounds. Part of that run is completely around the Cotton Bowl.

A lot of people bring their dogs on the run. My dogs would not make it, little chihuahuas. It's a great cause to raise money for animals!
