Thanks!

As I was reading more on facebook they said they will go full time to Christmas music after Thanksgiving. In the past they use to play before Thanksgiving but changed due to a few complaints.

I got an email from KNCT station manager, Dan Hull which is in the Killeen, TX area. Here is their programing for this year. They are a PBS station. I like their music programing. Mostly things like orchestral, Bing, traditional. My kids would call it elevator Christmas. But, it beats the heck out of the same old top 100 on most stations.

Online listening link on home page: http://www.knct.org/

"Here is our rundown for Christmas music this year:

Dec. 12th thru Dec. 25th All Christmas

Dec. 26th thru Dec. 28th 2 NON RELIGIOUS XMAS SONGS per hour

Being hailed as a Sunday evening surprise, The Wave in L.A. flipped to all Christmas yesterday. This is a good one if you like Jazz!

From the source webpage:

...Here's how the Wave's website explains it: "We’re thrilled to announce 94.7 The Wave is L.A.’s NEW Christmas Station. Now through Christmas, you’ll hear all your holiday favorites, including plenty of holiday jazz instrumental songs you’ll only hear here on The Wave."

I like the way KNCT is working in the Christmas music with non christmas music. That's the way I remember stations from my youth. They would mix in Christmas music. I can't remember a station going all Christmas music all the time until I was an adult.

Of course all the stations were locally owned and all programming originated in house back then; still wasn't much variety. Along the mid 70s those syndicated top 40 countdown shows started. Then I discovered public radio!...
