We always try to do a fall picture because of the colors. We've been doing them for ages and they usually make the Christmas card that we send out to family. It is kind of a running joke with my eldest who tries each year to get us to all dress up alike, which is a big Utah thing.
That's never going to happen though. I've got too many independent teen daughters to ever agree on a unified outfit.
I love digital photogrpahy though. Back in the day I'd have to shoot $50 in film just to get one usable shot.
It hasn't gotten any easier to get the shot. But it has gotten easier with big memory cards that can hold thousands of images!
Photo Christmas cards are my absolute favorite! So much more personal and it's always wonderful to see a family together.
My cousin sent one out last year that was had a series of candid pics of her two young children on it. Just lots of close ups of their little faces and it was AWESOME. She made them all black and white and had a simple, "Merry Christmas, from our family to yours."
"I love smiling...smiling's my favorite!"
I love to do photo cards as well We usually do photo's in the snow, or in the winter of the year before.
I like pictures of us in snowy Paris, or the Christmas before. This year, we didn't get to go to Paris, so I might be using picture of us on a glacier. I also try to make a nice design in photoshop. So we don't do a photoshoot for Christmas, but we usually go away around Christmas time, and then I keep in mind that I want a picture usable for Christmas cards :P
