I use a lot of lights, but have switched at least to the LED lights. We've just repainted the whole interior of the house and I think I'd really like to make some new changes to the house to make it look more pulled together. Maybe I'll do like Reinev and just add more greenery, rather than more lights that add to the January blues when the bill comes in.

LED lights are very very cheap to run and my electric bill was no different to any other month to be honest, cant go wrong with LEDS.

My outdoor lights & window candles are battery operated. The main tree (7.5 ft.) & DD's little tree have lights & the other small tree has LED lights. Since our main tree is no more, we may just have two small trees this year and save a couple hundred dollars on the big tree. Our largest electric bill of the year is always for January (paid in February), because January is our coldest month. I don't think my few lights make a big difference in the bill.

I tried switching to LED C7 lights a few years ago but they just don't have that warm look of the ceramic C7 lights I put on my tree. So now instead of being efficient I use both the LED's and regular C7's.

I run my outside lights on a 5 hour timer. They come on at 5:30 and shut off at 10:30. My tree stays on as long as I am awake. My electric bill will usually go up a few dollars during December but not much.

I have only one item with LED lights a 3 foot snowman, he is too cute for words. But, on that note I keep my lights on from 5:30 - about 10:00 - 11:00 same with my tree and village. My electric bill only goes up a few dollars, so I guess I am not E.E. wish I were but the way the LED lights look seems too bright.

I usually spend most of the Christmas holidays laying on my back under the tree, burping up ham and candy canes... the methane alone could light up Denver for a week...
