I think it is crazy the places that they are saying that it was felt. It was really far spread out.

I read this morning that the shock waves travel farther in the east than they do in the west---something about the eastern crust being older and "colder," while the western crust is not as old and "warmer." (Don't ask me to explain that ...)

I was sitting in the computer room and on top of the bookcases I have some of my Barbie doll collection displayed in the boxes. The boxes started to sway and it was very strange.

Later I tried to make the boxes sway in the same way but could not do it. I jumped on the floor and tried to shake the bookcase but the boxes would no sway the same way.

I heard that today too. My husband also told me too that he heard yesterday that there is a thing called a fault line that runs up through Pa and the east coast is the worst one (or it could be), but they don't ever think anything would happen. I don't understand much about it, but I guess the fault line is what causes the earth quakes. Lets hope it stays that way!

That is neat you tried to do that. A lot of people have been sharing experiences with me about trying to do-over what happened, but then they couldn't. It just seemed so weird!

I am originally from Maryland, and still have family there. I called my mother during my lunch hour at work, and she didn't know anything about it until I told her. Then she said, "Oh wait, my computer chair did shake a little, I just thought it was my puppy playing around." How funny is that?

It is crazy the different stories we're hearing. Some people didn't feel it, some felt it only a little, and some felt it a lot and it may have only been 5 miles apart. I think it's just really weird, but I guess it's how the crust in the Earth lie.

I understand that it also depends on how much water is in the ground at any given location.
