Giving presents early?

Hey guys, I have a question. How do you avoid giving the presents you've bought for Christmas away early?

I have bought two gifts for my boyfriend and one of them is something he could REALLY use right now. It's a $25 present and I've got a million other things that I want to give him. So I was thinking of giving it to him early. But I'm trying to maintain a budget too. It's kind of difficult.

I know a bunch of you buy gifts REALLY early. How do you keep from giving them early?

With the kids they have enough toys as it is, so their Christmas presents are strictly for Christmas.
I never buy family early, so that isnt a problem for me.

Well, I thought of that. I mean...he could really use this item and it's not just that I'm excited to give it to him. I think I'll go ahead and give it to him. I'll let you know how it goes! Thanks.

But I still would like to know how you guys contain your excitement about the gifts for so long. If I had them through the year I don't know if I could avoid giving them!

I never give presents early even if its something I know my husband could use early. I wouldn't want him to give me a gift early either.

Oh ding dang. Well, here's the deal...his shoes are messed up and he literally will duct tape the shoes he has rather than get new ones. I bought him a pair of shoes and it will be a bit better on his back if I can just get him to wear them! Hah hah. He won't buy shoes for himself until the dang things are literally falling apart. I don't know. I'm probably gonna give it to him.

Go for it! He appreciate the non-Christmas gift since it'll be more of a surprise.

I quickly pack mine away in totes or in the attic. Out of sight, out of mind. I never end up giving them early...but sometimes I do forget to write them in my Christmas binder and end up with more than I planned for one person or another.

Yeah, I gave them to him. He was very VERY appreciative. He's worn them every day.

I am with you on sometimes forgetting presents I've bought for people. Even when I buy them in October, I hide them so he won't see them and have actually almost forgotten to wrap them up and put them out! This year, I think I'm going to go ahead and wrap them up so that I can keep them in a more obvious place.

Think about it, you guys...three and half weeks from now we can put them out someplace and display them if we want to! hah hah. Can you imagine seeing your presents for two months (like if we put them under a tree Nov1) without getting to open them? Now THAT would be total torture. hah hah. I wouldn't really do that.

I never gave a present before Christmas eve BUT a few years ago I did buy 1-2 gifts per month (starting in Jan). I enjoyed doing it for that year BUT when the season came it didn't feel as special because I had most of my gifts bought already. I still went to the mall and such but it didn't feel the same knowing I already had everything that I needed. It took some of the fun out of it.
