I have 2 brothers and one sister. We are scattered throughout the southeast, midwest, and west coast. My parents live in pacific NW. Us 4 siblings always go to our parents home in Portland,OR,but this year will be very different. They are all coming here to My home in Georgia! We always meet around the 22nd,and we all usually stay until the 27th although One year we decided to make it an extra long holiday and we all stayed till new years!

On Christmas Eve we are usually getting ready for the big day. we always go to mass at 5pm and then come home and open up the wine(we love vintage wines!) and we always without fail will watch 'home alone' or "a Christmas story"! I always seem to love Christmas Eve more than Christmas itself! I don't know how to explain it,but on Christmas day i already feel a little let down! This year everyone is coming the day before on the 23rd and I am so excited to have all my family in my home! and it will be 2 weeks before our baby is due on jan 3rd.so who knows we might have a Christmas baby!

Our families live 3 hours away so we usually drive down on the 23. Christmas Eve we have an extended family dinner and exchange gifts at my mother-laws. We read from Luke 2 and Isiah 53 to reflect on the real reason we are celebrating. We talk about past Christmases and about family members who are no longer with us. We play games and just enjoy each others' company. Its a Wonderful Life or The Christmas Story is always on in the background (with the volume low).

Later we make the short drive to my parents home where we watch Holiday Inn and stay the night. We celebrate Christmas with my side of the family and basically repeat what we did Christmas Eve with my wife's family.

Christmas Eve is just kind of a chill day in our house. If it's on a weekday, typically my mom is at work. But it's not this year, so everyone will be home.
My brother and I are usually watching Christmas movies in the basement, there's Christmas music playing upstairs, and of course we have the NORAD Santa Tracker on all day
I usually bake something just because I like to, too haha. Then we go to 8:00 mass that night, come home, maybe watch a last movie and go to bed.

If christmas eve is on a weekday most of my family have to work half day. That's way we spend christmas eve nowadays "only" as family together. One of us is preparing the food and we will start christmas eve celebration with a great dinner. Afterwards we help clean the kitchen. Usually someone tells the christmas story out of the bible, we will sing some songs and then start giving away our gifts. We also watch tv together.
