Continuing a trend we saw last year, Target is now the latest store to announce that they, too, will be starting their Black Friday sale at midnight
this year. While we've continually seen the start times of Black Friday sales get pushed up earlier and earlier, Walmart threw gasoline on the fire by starting last year's Black Friday sale at midnight. With the very likely chance of the two largest discount retailers going toe-to-toe for the midnight time-slot this year (Walmart has yet to announce their hours), other stores would probably be wise to keep their start times later.
Speaking of which, Toys R Us, who started last year's sale at 10pm on Thanksgiving, has released a full listing of every location's Black Friday hours
. From the looks of it, Toys R Us stores will be opening 10pm Thursday, Babies R Us stores will be opening at 4am Friday and Holiday Express stores opening at 5am Friday.
A couple years ago an early Black Friday sale started around 6am; now it's uncommon to find ones that start past 4am. It makes you wonder how much earlier stores can go. Maybe we'll even see smaller retailers start their sales later in the day to catch residual shoppers from the big-box stores. It'll certainly will be interesting to see how this all plays out!
