Vietnam in HD Christmas Songs

Hi all,

This may be a tough one. I was watching Vietnam in HD on the History Channel and there was a brief segment involving Christmas. I believe there were three song snippets played and I was wondering about the artists. I would love to find out who was singing those tunes. The songs are played in the "A Changing War (1969-1970)" episode @ 20:10. The songs are Jingle Bells and it sounds like its followed up by Away in a Manger and Silent Night. It might even be the same choral group.

You can see the episode here...

http://www.history.com/shows/vietnam...a-changing-war

I checked the soundtrack on Amazon and didn't see any Christmas music listed.

I hope someone can provide some info.

Thanks in advance.

Tough, indeed! But when has that ever stopped you from noticing odd music in movies and TV shows, Superfreak3?

I listened to, recorded and saved the section of the show and listened again. I'm convinced that all three songs are by the same chorus/choir.

Here are a few notes to, perhaps, jog someone's memory.

01- The songs are a cappella.

02- The chorus is mixed; men and women.

03- The acoustics sound like the recordings were made in a large cathedral or auditorium. (I think I may have heard audience noise as well - live recording?)

04- "Jingle Bells" starts with both men and women singing "Jingle Jingle Jingle Jingle All The Way." Then the men sing "Dashing Dashing Dashing Dashing" followed by the women starting the first verse, "Dashing through the snow..." The men continue singing "Dashing" under the women singing the verse until the women sing "Laughing All The Way". At that point the men sing "Ha Ha Ha Ha...". Show dialog blocks the rest but after the first verse both men and women join to sing together as the song fades in the segment.

05- There are actually two early melodies to "Away In A Manger". This version is the one less commonly sung (and the best one if you ask me).

06- Other than the first three notes I find nothing distinct about "Silent Night".

Anyone?

Still no luck. I'm trying to find a contact for the creators of the program to see if they can help.

Here's some info from the Lou Reda production company...

"Jingle Bells by Anon, part of the Extreme Music Library".

It does appear to be the one @ www.extrememusic.com. Searching Jingle Bells brought up a Christmas Album, which does appear to contain the correct track. The others appear to be from that album as well.

I like these searches!!!
