Christmas Tree Well, it finally happened!

I was decorating one my trees and after it was completed, the tree stand broke and down it went. What a mess! So beware of the plastic three footed tree stands that come with some trees. Luckily, we had an old good metal stand that hubby was able to modify the tree trunk to fit into. The cheap plastic tree stands should be outlawed, not safe at all.

Also, this is weird, after I had my fallen decorated tree problem, my daughter was putting up her tree, had it decorated and her tree stand broke. Yep, another 3 legged plastic stand.

That stinks. I use one of those stands that ratchets the arms up to surround the tree. I'm always scared it's going to pop and the tree will fall but it hasn't happened so far. I'll be crossing my fingers now though.

We have a metal stand that was dirt cheap we bought some years ago. It looks the most basic thing in the world but it's a solid as a rock. With any luck, Friday night will see it in action again.

This happened to us too! Bruce (my son) was about 2 at the time and was playing just beside it when all of a sudden the leg broke and it came tumbling down on top of him. He was festooned in tinsel and twinkle lights!! Luckily he wasn't hurt but it made for a good picture!!!!!!!

I have a tree in the hallway thats missing a leg. I was missing one in the box when i bought it and because I couldnt wait to get my tree up I didn't bother taking it back. So now most of it is resting against the wall.

My tree this year has 4 plastic legs and it's not any better. I had to stop putting heavy ornaments on because the legs started twisting and the tree was really close to falling over. I had enough light ornaments to decorate it and then I bolted the legs off of my old tree onto the new legs to give it some extra support. I'll still be looking for a new tree with a metal base after christmas though.

I had that happen one year. But of course it had more to due with the 6 year old trying to get a candy cane off the tree than the tree stand breaking.

My newer tree that I got in 2008 has a plastic stand with four legs and it seems better but I will still keep checking it. LOL, yes the other tree was a mess and oh boy the lights were all tangled it was terrible. My husband said to me that I put up two trees and at the time I didn't have my living room tree up but he was referring to the 7 foot tree in the basement that came down when the stand broke, I put it up twice. So far I have put up three trees with only two to show.

That happened to us several years ago ... it was 2 days before christmas and when we came home from the work the trss was leaning on the sofa. We grabbed the base to our patio umbrella and out the tree in that. It worked great. After that christmas that tree went into the trash. The one have now has a metal base.
