My Merry Christmas Announcement

Christmas Controversy & Opinion Visit Defend Christmas.com Presented by Defend Christmas, this forum covers the difficult topics of the season -- from the famed and fabled War on Christmas to church and state debates to using the star or the angel on the Christmas tree. Modern Christmas celebration has it's complications -- schools are divided, some Christmas light displays are too much, some even argue that it is better to call it a "holiday" tree. Some merchants won't even say "Merry Christmas"! Where there is controversy, there is insanity. Even in Christmas.

From what I get from it and I could be wrong but just stating my opinion.

It's almost like they are trying to push Santa completely out of the picture when Christmas comes around and also making kids think they should only get expensive electronics for Christmas, you know? Again, I could be wrong and a little confused on this but I like the commercials where it shows Santa leaving the toys and stuff, lol

I hated seeing that commercial! I thought I was just being silly to let it bug me but now I know I wasn't alone!

Thanks Lacim84 for posting to this thread, I do not recall seeing it from last December. Anyway, after going through all the comments and watching the youtube video's, I almost feel as though my teenager wrote and directed that commercial.

You know/ remember how teenagers can get, they do things or say things to try to be funny but yet it comes out to us as though their a smart eleck. Anyway, I thought the commercials were stupid... I want to feel the love, the warmth of Christmas wrapped around me like a blanket. In my opinion, It's another reason to walk to the other end of the shopping center and shop at Target, Michaels, Bed bath and beyond, or just stay at home and shop on-line at QVC... I know that there is a freedom of expression, but also there is a freedom to shop where you want to as well, It's called choice.....

I feel like maybe that if a lot of younger kids see this commercial too then the belief of Santa wouldn't be there anymore, you know? I know some kids are still too young to understand that part but for the ones to can figure it out, it's like they'll stop believing in Santa, which to me is a shame.

I have 8 grandchildren and none of them were ever told that Santa brings their presents. Do we have issues with those who do promote Santa, no we don't. I can understand the feelings about this commercial. So these commercials do not bother my grandchildren but I can see how the commercials would bother children who believe that Santa brings their gifts.
By the way, all of my grandchildren have a wonderful Christmas filled with surprises and love.
I do agree with all of you and I hope that television gets it but the almighty dollar is their Santa and god. So I don't look for any changes for the good of the family.
