star What Will You Remember About 2011?

I thought it may be fun to have a farewell to 2011 thread by putting your favorite or not so favorite memories of the year. Pick 3-5 memories and share them.

Here are my top 5 memories:

5. Getting a promotion in February
4. The Blizzard on January 12 where we got 30+inches of snow, and had over 4 ft of snow on the ground at one time.
3. White Halloween, and the 5 day power outage
2. Boston Bruins winning the Stanley Cup
1. June 1 tornado that decimated part of my town.

#1 for me is the amazing family Christmas we had this year. Making those decorations out of dads old sweater for the family was such a blessing for everyone bringing back so many great memories.

#2 is not such good one, it is when the tornado destroyed much of downtown Goderich (our favorite spot by the lake to visit) http://www.huffingtonpost.ca/2011/08..._n_932766.html
The community has still not recovered, city hall just opened again a few weeks ago. So much work to still do there.

#3 a trip to Vermont with my mom to visit my sister and her husband for two weeks

#4 teaching my first ever cake decorating classes to kids at kids company
http://youtu.be/aBxNkPcofyQ

#5 winning 2nd place in the gingerbread house competition this year!

4. Finding out that my Wishbone does not have a brain tumor
and getting him on the proper medicines which have made
all the difference !

1. The Earthquake! (that was a new thing for us!)
2. Hurricane Irene
3. Turning 50 in October
4. My Dad's funeral in January (which left us with nowhere to go but up for the rest of the year). We found out we had many good friends.
5. The really outstanding full day of Christmas concerts my Chorus did on Dec. 11.
6. My Church's Christmas Eve service this year, which was as close to perfect as they ever get.

1. Seeing my youngest granddaughter being born in April, and being the first one to hold her besides the doctor and nurse. That was the high point of the year.

2. Losing Pop in November. That was the low point of the year.

3. DH's and my 10th wedding anniversary.

4. My younger sister's first visit to California in 20 years, and the first time I'd seen her in 4 years. And the fun time we had in Napa.

5. visiting Ohio twice in one year, and seeing my mother twice in one year. And driving around my hometown and looking at Christmas lights with Mom.

I will always remember 2011 as the year:

I had a child or at least concieved one if it's not born in 2011.

The year I was promoted to Master Sergeant at work.

The year I was finally able to buy my first nice home!

The year I drove 5 hours to see one inch of snowfall but it was worth it!!

The year I went to Buenos Aires and saw where my mom and grandparents lived when she was growing up!
