My Dog Sam
Dear Abby, I too was picked on when I was a child and I too turned to our dog Queenie. She always gave me love and she always listened. Bless you.
I have spent most of the morning working in the garden, so got to thinking, who here plants a garden? Flowers, vegies or herbs?
I live in a row house so my gardens are long and narrow, part is even an old converted stove.
I have flowers, herbs, tomatoes and lettuce so far.
now I wait to see how it all grows!
The batteries in my camera are dead so no pictures right now. I have 3 tomato plants, 2 green pepper plants, and 2 blueberry bushes planted up against the back of my apartment. Then I took a some lettuce and green onion seeds and planted them in between the plants. I also planted some parsley, chive, and basil seeds in a pot on my back porch. I've never really messed with seeds before and I'm a little late getting them in but I have noticed a few shoots coming up through the soil in the last couple of days.
I LOVE your lettuce set up, so great christmasstar!
We have a a rose garden with 45 roses and growing.
Small Mum flower area
then a veggie garden, white corn, summer squash, zucchini, green beans, tomatoes, peppers, leeks, I love trying something new each year, a few years ago I tried asparagus but that has been a bother, takes so long to get one going.
Christmas or bust!!!

I have just bought a house with 1.5 acres of land, but its more like a field and some wilderness than a garden at the moment, but i have big plans for a veggie plot so i will post some pics when i get started.
That may be a while as i have a 9 week old daughter who is keeping me very busy!

I had to work really hard to get a garden in several years ago, by starting from scratch. All my backyard soil was clay and rock so I used a pick, shovel, wheel barrel and pickup truck and removed a 28x23 plot about 18" deep by hand. I then decided to install a stone wall, that steps up with the grade, all around the garden with a 4' wire fence. I then had a tandom dump truck deliver a mixture of compost, garden soil and top soil to my house. Three years later I have a really nice garden. Since then, I have constructed two raised beds as well, one is for a herb garden and the other a strawberry garden. Hopefully as time goes by I will also have grapes out back and raseberries and maybe blueberries as well....I will post a picture of my hard work very soon....

As I promised, here is a picture of my gardens. Of course, the large one is my vegetable garden, the second largest is my herb garden and last but not least is my latest garden; a strawberry garden. At the bottom of my large garden, I now have pumpkins growing everywhere's. I plan to possible build a couple more of the raised beds in the near future...
